What I Did On 2008-12-16

  • Just got a call from my audition for Out Town at Lionheart Theatre. Did not get the role I wanted, but the director called anyway. very nice #
  • OUR TOWN, not Out Town. Out Town is that _other_ play. #
  • Planning ahead, I want to audition for Sabrina Fair at Kudzu (Jan 6,7) and Driving Miss Daisy at Act1 (Jan6,8). Wit at Onstage Atlanta (???) #
  • I think I can get back into Pat Hurley’s Advanced Scene at the Alliance in January as well. Will be working monologues with him in any case. #
  • But if I win the lottery, travel will be first order of business. Somewhere with a hammock and an ocean breeze. #
  • Yes, Alaska does have an ocean breeze, but I am thinking somewhere more tropical. #
  • DO’H! Arena Football League suspends the 2009 season. Double DO’H. At least we get our money back for season tickets. #AFL http://is.gd/c0TR. #
  • So ready to leave work. 23 more minutes to go, then off to a @gwtgladiators game tonight. #

Monday’s Auditions

I went to two auditions yesterday: The scheduled audition with Theatre in the Square and an open audition at Lionheart Theatre Company.

For the Theatre in the Square Audition, I arrived 15 minutes early and they were running 45 minutes late from my scheduled time. So I waited an hour before I auditioned. I was called in, did my 1 minute comedic monologue, read the part of FLAGMAN and was dismissed. Callbacks are on Friday. I am not hopeful, but just have been seen at a professional theater is good.

The timing worked out good for the second audition which was at 7 PM. I arrived from Marietta to Norcross by 6:30. Lionheart Theatre was holding open auditions for their production of Our Town by Thornton Wilder. I read mainly for the part of STAGE MANAGER which is the narrator through the entire play. I believe I did well, but I am not hopeful.

Auditioned for God’s Man in Texas

Heidi opened the weekend of May 26th. On that Sunday, I went on vacation immediately after the 2 PM show. St. Augustine, Florida if you want to know. Friday I drove all the way back to Atlanta for this audition Friday night, June 1st. Long drive. I needed to be back anyway for Heidi on Saturday and Sunday.

Audition went well enough, five guys auditioned for 3 roles. I as called today by Tanya Carroll who indicated that, yes, indeed I had too many conflicts. Rehearsals at Lionheart Theatre Company were on Tuesdays and Thursdays only and would start while I am in rehearsals for Breaking Legs. Although the run dates do not overlap, I would miss too many rehearsals. Oh well.

Tanya did invite me back for the next 2 auditions at Lionheart
