Not very professional of me

I have been real lazy learning my lines for Anne of Avonlea. Very unprofessional. I do know the lines well enough to say them all, but this week I have missed half a page of dialog because I could not remember my next line.

Why is this? Well, with A Christmas Story, I had half the book to memorize and so this time with only 14 pages of dialog, I was being a bit lazy. So now it shows during tech week. I am actually nervous during rehearsals that I will really blow it. There is no excuse for this.

We open Saturday with just one more day of rehearsal. So I really need to focus on lines the next few days.

Shaving my head

Jeannie and Wally looked for a wig or skull cap that looked real so I would look like I was balding with just a fringe of hair. It is actually mentioned in the play. So no luck on a wig. So I am going to do it… Shave My Head. For this weekends show (Saturday, March 22nd and Sunday, March 23rd), I will shave most of my head except for the “fringe”. Then for the next 5 weekends I will be completely bald and hair.

This also means that for the Atlanta Unifieds, I will not look like my headshots, but a bald guy with a beard.

First Reading of Anne of Avonlea

Last night, the case of Anne of Avonlea read through the play. This will be a great cast. We laughed all the way though the reading. Everybody was very comfortable, which is a very good thing for working together.

Found out something interesting about our script. It is a script Samuel French carries but only in their archives. It is an old 3 act script. Very funny though.

A role in Anne of Avonlea

For the callbacks for Anne of Avonlea, I was the only callback for J. A. HARRISON. I read with 3 different people for the part of EMILY HARRISON. Once I as done with that, I was free to leave. I was given the role.

Having left early, I am not aware of who received the other roles.

Callback and a Play

I received a call from Candy Spahr on my way home from work on Friday. She offered me a callback for Anne of Avonlea. The callbacks have been moved to Monday at 5 PM. This was interesting because as far as I knew, there were more auditions to be held on Saturday. But as I stated before, I was the only adult male to audition on Thursday night.

On Saturday, I received a call from the Artistic Director, IJ Rosenblum, at Button Theatre offering me a role in Barefoot in the Park. The Auditions were last weekend and I has assumed I did not get a role. The part I auditioned for and which I knew I did not get was for the older eccentric neighbor. The part I was offered, and accepted, was for the TELEPHONE REPAIRMAN. It is a paid role and my first role at a Professional Non-Equity theatre. All I have done before now have been in Community Theatres.
